Striper Bite Back On

Posted by scottc on October 31st, 2008

The Stripers have started to bite again, after a tough couple weeks. There is still little consistency in the pattern. However, my strategy has been pulling flat lines to cover water until you mark them. Then drop down on top of them with down lines. Fishing has been the best in the mouths of creeks.  The schools of fish I have been finding are not as large as they were a month ago, but its nice to encounter feeding fish again. Always have a top-water handy, because the fish are still surfacing at certain points through out the day. Down lines, and flat lines are producing 50,50 right now.

Bass Fishing has still been very good these last few days. I have been finding huge schools of spots. When they are frenzied up on the surface toss a zoom fluke to them, and when they go back down drop shot a Berkly gulp plastic in front of them.  The fall bite is here. I still have a few open dates in November.

Lanier Fall Turnover

The Striper fishing has slowed down a little bit. There is little consistency in the pattern this time of year. In the mornings Stipers can be found on the south end of the lake, schooling, terrorizing blue back herring. In this situation there is only about a one minute window to throw a top water, or a buck tail jig to these schooling fish. If you hit it right hold on catching these fish on spinning gear is a blast. I’m also pulling them in here and there on flat lines over tree lines that come up to about 20 feet below the boat. However, pulling these monsters out of the trees is another challenge. When it hits about 10:00 the down line comes back into play, and the bite still remains consistent at 30-40 feet below the boat. This time of year you have to be ready for anything.

Spotted bass fishing has been on fire. I’ve been pulling in huge numbers, all over reef markers. Throwing top water in the morning and switching it up to crank baits once the sun is up. Also drop shotting certain plastics in, around, and near brush piles is also producing. I still have a couple of open dates in October, leading into November. See you on the water.

October 8, Good Day, Lake Lanier

Posted by scottc on October 9th, 2008

Today was an interesting day due to the weather, it was a wet and rainy morning. The bite slowed slightly this morning, I believe it was weather induced. However, we still pulled in quality numbers. The fish were slightly smaller on average, but we still boated one today that exceeded 12 pounds.  As this front pushes through fishing should pick up again. The fish were siting tight into the trees today, and were biting 30-50 feet below the boat. Don’t be afraid to look outside the creek and river channels, we caught a few stripers today in 50 feet of water. The bite is still good Mid Lake. The down line remains the key beneficiary. Always keep a top water handy, and be on the lookout for breaking fish. I still have open dates in October. See you on the water.

Captian Scott,

Thanks again for the Gettin Lucky Fishing Experience last Saturday.   The 15 Stripers we caught were more than I had caught on two previous charters with other guides on Lanier.  I know this is a new business for you, but your experience in finding the fish and the the great equipment you provide made this a truly great day.

Thanks Again,  Jim Bryant
