Despite bone chilling conditions, the bigger fish have moved out of hiding and into shallower water. Strikes were hard to come by today but every fish we boated was a quality fish. Flat lines are still the ticket early in the morning. The more active fish are up shallower. For some reason it seems like the fish are being extra finicky towards down lines. However if you like to troll there is a decent trolling bite. The Stripers are scattered out mainly outside of the river channels. This makes them harder to find. There are still some fish down south, but the best bite continues to be mid lake. Look for birds, and keep a steady eye on your Lowrance. I have a few open dates in January. Call me if you want to book a trip.

Striper fishing on Lanier doesn’t get much better than this or more exciting. We boated many stripers this morning . The fish are holding on South End points. Pull Herring and Trout on Flat Lines. We also boated a couple smaller fish on top water, as they were pushing bait right up against the bank. I have found fish deeper and surprisingly shallower than normal. Be ready for anything, and when you get on the fish hold on they are biting. This colder weather coming through is starting to turn them on. Winter time is my favorite time of year to fish and an anglers best shot at boating a Trophy call me if your interested in booking a trip. I have dates open next week.

Its really nice to see the Lake up couple of feet. Striper fishing has been hit or miss, mostly hit. The Stripers have moved up a little shallower; flat lines are producing in the morning, and down lines are producing later in the day. Birds are always a good indicator if fish are in the area. The Stripers are still rolling early. When you see them rolling throw a smaller buck tail jig, or a smoke shad zoom fluke with a jig head. The best bite continues to be Mid lake and South. We did very well today with the stripers.

Bass fishing has been on fire! Look for fish on brush piles 30-50 feet deep. Work a flex it spoon around the edges of the brush pile for consistant strikes. We put huge numbers of bass in the boat today using this technique. Certain plastics droped shot are also working. What a way to end a great day fishing. The bass are very visible on your depth finder this time of year. See you on the water.
